A sculptural cast brass or bronze bookmark that turns reading into a small, cherished ritual. Hand-cast in solid metals, its gentle weight and luminous warmth settle softly between the pages, bringing intention to moments spent alone with a book. As time passes, the brass deepens into a rich, living patina, quietly recording each pause and return. Both practical and poetic, it marks not only where you left off, but the beauty of slowing down.

Also available as MOMI Bookmark No. 2; use separately or as a pair in the same book for an elegantly playful vibe. For finishes, this series is available in Smooth Polished Brass and Smooth Polished White Bronze.

Ovoid Inspiration

Constantin Brâncuși (1876–1957) was a pioneering figure of modern sculpture, known for radically simplifying form to reveal what he believed was its inner truth. Rejecting detailed realism, he sought not to depict appearances but to express the essence of a subject — flight rather than a bird, stillness rather than a face. His sculptures are defined by smooth surfaces, purified shapes, and a sense of quiet inevitability.

Drawing inspiration from Romanian folk art, ancient forms, and the natural world, Brâncuși created works that feel timeless and archetypal. Material was central to his philosophy: marble, bronze, wood, and stone were carefully chosen and often polished to interact with light, space, and the viewer. For Brâncuși, simplicity was not minimalism, but the result of deep understanding — a way of stripping away the unnecessary to arrive at something enduring, contemplative, and profoundly human.

Trained in Romania and later in Paris, Brâncuși immersed himself in the avant-garde while maintaining a fiercely private, contemplative life. Though connected to movements like Cubism and the broader Parisian avant-garde, Brâncuși followed his own path, laying the groundwork for abstract and minimalist sculpture. His life and art reflect a devotion to timelessness, quiet rigor, and the beauty of essential form.
