Farmoon, Kyoto

By Maha Alavi

Eating at Farmoon in Kyoto, Japan. A truly special place.

Farmoon specializes in sourcing local ingredients to make simple, pared down vegan dishes. The tools used, including plates, bowls, cutlery, etc., are all also locally sourced or commissioned by makers in the Kyoto area.

The interior was beautiful and intentionally homey and warm. Lots of objects that represented the Kyoto aesthetic of wabi sabi were displayed around the restaurant as decor. Most items found in the vintage and antique markets held in town. More on those markets in another journal post coming soon.
